Harleen is currently completing a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) at Yorkville University. She earned her Bachelor of Honours in Sociology in 2019 and completed a Certificate in Mental Health and Substance Use in 2022. She has experience working as a youth support worker, where she supported young people in finding employment, accessing resources, and navigating life challenges.
Her approach to counselling draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and Solution-Focused Therapy, along with some experience using EMDR-informed techniques. Her goal is to support individuals in building confidence and self-understanding through patience, kindness, and attentive listening. She enjoys helping people identify goals that feel meaningful and aligned with who they are, while recognizing and strengthening the qualities that make them unique. Amber is a seasoned professional who started her career as a teacher then as a school counsellor, working with students from Kindergarten through grade 12. She has also taught college students who were training in the Human Services field. She obtained her Masters of Education in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria and has had the privilege of counselling in non-profits, social service agencies, and in her own private counselling practice.
Amber believes strongly in a wholistic approach to counselling which incorporates listening to the client’s experience of what is going on in their mind, body, and spirit. She is firmly grounded in a person-centered approach and draws from Internal Family Systems, Narrative, Trauma-informed CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and DBT. Amber has level 2 certification in Gottman Marriage Counselling and informal training in Relational Life Therapy to guide her work with couples.
Amber also has a wide range of experience and training in grief counselling and currently volunteers as a grief companion. She enjoys working with youth, adults, and couples. Carla relocated from South Africa (where she was a registered psychologist since 2002) to Canada in Dec 2016. She holds a PhD in psycholgy (Canadian equiv.) from the university of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, a Masters in Ed. psychology (Canadian equiv.), a Psychology Honours degree as well as Bachelor of Science degree. Jennifer Diotte, RCC, MACP, MPC is a Mental Performance Consultant with the Canadian Sports Psychology Association (CSPA) in addition to holding a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) designation through with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). She also holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) with a major in psychology. Prior to this Jennifer completed a Community and School Support Worker (CSSW) certificate to work with individuals with special needs.
